PSCS (Post Strikers of Conn Selmer) has retained a lawyer for the benefit of all people affected by the disastrous negotiation of Conn Selmer’s contract with its employees. I always kept the hope and belief that justice does find truth, and good people do exist who want to help the less fortunate and disadvantage, who are left out of representation. After I contacted 20 law firms plus legal services I found my way down to Attorney Michael Kendall of Carmel, Indiana. Mr. Kendall is a former state senator (D-Jasper, district 47 1982), a graduate of Notre Dame Ranking 4th in his class, whose uncle was a union labor leader and Mr. Kendall as an attorney has handled cases similar to our type.
One such case in 1982 involved the united furniture workers local 334 from Indiana Desk of Jasper, whereby the union was facing decertification. The company cut wages, changed pension and insurance plans and decided on what the incentive pay rates would be for piece work-without the worker input to weigh in on the decision.
The mostly Catholic work force was rallied by the UFWA bringing in a Catholic priest who used the pope encyclicals to give confidence for current labor force to support unionism.

Out struggle is much the same and ironically I already quoted from the pope’s newest encyclical “Charity in Truth” whereby Pope Benedict even more strongly advocates for the organization of workers in unions as a just means to improve quality of life.
Next week we hope Mr. Kendall will be ready to come to town and get together with the former strikers about what he can do, all are encouraged to attend.
Oh, and yes he did win in the labor charge and unemployment for the UFWA against Indiana Desk.
