All through the strike it was so hard for the press to get a response from Conn Selmer, Stoner felt, silence was golden.
Now when other companies are prospering in Elkhart reclaiming the “Made in Elkhart Heritage” Stoner feels he wants to be part of that. There are many Elkhart Truth articles where Conn Selmer consistently felt outsourcing was the only answer in order to complete. Daniel Henkin (past own of Conn instruments) wrote an editorial about the death of the music industry in Elkhart.
Who can explain Stoners statement:
John Stoner, “with over 500 (not 50) employees crafting fine brass and woodwind instruments in Elkhart.”

Where are all these employees? Does UMI have 400 there?
I thought Anderson plating suffered deeply when Conn Selmer outsourced all their saxophones? Foundries also were hard hit with the loss of the key making here.
